General Conditions
- Participation is open to all creators who work with flamenco-related themes.
- Film-makers from both Spain and abroad may participate by sending their work to the festival organization along with the registration form through July 31, 2010.
- Thirty pieces will be selected to participate in the contest, with three cash prizes resulting.
- The conditions for selection and awarding of prizes for work presented related to FLAMENCO for the 1st edition of this festival, are as follows:
- Video pieces must be presented in DVD (PAL 720 x 576) in their final format, although they may have originally been filmed with a different system.
- Foreign produced film shorts must include Spanish subtitles.
The maximum length of each piece is 15 minutes, including credits.
There is no limit as to the number of pieces a single producer or director may present.
- Work may be presented in any narrative genre or approach, as long as there is sufficient technical quality to be shown.
- It is required that all work presented be formerly unpublished, and never presented at any other festival. This does not apply to work presented for the parallel exhibit.
- The selection will be made by the organization and the results published after July 31, 2010.
- Short films sent to the Festival must cede exhibition rights within the framework of the Festival for a period of 12 months beginning from the date the prizes are awarded. During this time the organization of the FFLAC may see fit to show the work at other national or international festivals under the banner FiFLAC (Festival Internacional Flamenco de Cortometrajes). This cession of rights regarding the audiovisual material must be accepted by all participants. Once the time period expires, the works held by the organization of the FFLAC revert permanently to their authors. All contestants must explicitly authorize this cession of rights on the entry form.
- The FFLAC may use fragments of selected works for their promotion or that of the festival via internet or other audiovisual media.
- Directors, producers and/or those people legitimately responsible for the work presented, upon declaring themselves participants in the FFLAC, assume all responsibility for any possible sort of legal claim or demand that might be made against the festival by any individual claiming rights to the works.
- The shorts selected for the festival by the organization’s commission will be judged in the contest by a jury composed of professionals from the world of film, communication, audiovisual media and flamenco.
- No work will be accepted which, in the view of the festival’s organization, supposes a violation of human rights.
- The jury will award prizes classified as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, as per results of a vote which cannot be appealed, for the best short-length audiovisual flamenco piece, with works being eligible from all categories and styles; fiction, documentary, animation, video art, etc.
